Living in the wild

Nepal, famous for its closeness to nature, never disappoints the solace seeker & natur lover in a traveler. The park shares its boundaries with Someshwar hill on the western side and Parsa Wildlife Reserve in the eastern side. The park can be entered through the eastern town of Sauraha or the western village Meghauli.

They can go on a wild Elephant safari seeing The Elephant Breeding Center at Khorsor and meanwhile enjoy viewing scarce One-horned Rhinoceros and Royal Bengal tiger.

The park is also home to various other enthralling species like leopards, wild boars, sloth bears, monkeys, four horned antelope, Pangolin, Golden monitor lizard, deers and birds. Apart from elephant safaris, other methods are also used to travel inside the park like Jeep ride, canoe rides and jungle walk. But for all methods of communication, hiring a guide is immensely recommended. Grasslands are also an important part of Chitwan Nationa Park covering almost 20% of the park. More than 50 different types of grasses are found here some of which can grow upto 8 mtrs. in height.

Among the various places offered by this Park, tourists love to explore Lake Lamital, Lake Devital, Bishajari Tal, Devghtdham and Kailashpuri (religious sites), Balmiki Ashram, Pandvnagar, a historio-religious site. Situated in Kasara, the headquarters of the park, is a museum which has enlightening displays. Also nearby attractions are Bikram Baba, a Hindu religious site and Gharial Breeding Center, which shelters Marsh Mugger and a number of turtles.
