This tour from Nepal to Tibet is a beautiful blend of cultural history of two neighbouring countries viz Nepal and Tibet. Over a two weeks long trip starting from Lhasa the capital of autonomous region of Tibet the journey takes you deep into the cultural history of Tibet. Take a ferry trip to visit Tsedang and visit the first temple of the region. A long but scenic drive takes you to the town of Gyantse. The beautiful passes, lakes and glaciers will make your road journey a memorable experience. Before entering to Nepal from Kodari border, in Tibet side you will also have beautiful visit of Mt. Everest, Mt. Shisha Pangma and will also visit many other monasteries and beautiful sites. The Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal has a variety of tour options for the visitor. After crossing the tiny border town of Zhangmu we will enter Nepal and drive to Kathmandu. Many historic and cultural sites in and around Kathmandu makes the place very interesting and popular among travellers. The beautiful valley of Pokhara is a perfect place to relax and enjoy your time. Alternatively there are several short treks and aero sports available in the valley which may also interest you.

Itinerary

  • Day 01 : Arrive Lhasa

    Transfer to your hotel after arriving in Lhasa airport. From airport to Lhasa city, it only takes half an hour of driving along the Lhasa-airport highway. You will be amazed by the spectacular plateau scenery along the Brahmaputra River. Normally you will arrive in the late afternoon or evening by train. And 20 minutes of driving will take you to your hotel in Lhasa city. Check in at hotel, and have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude

  • Day 02 : Lhasa

    Today we will proceed explore the town, by visiting the famous Potala palace painted in red and white on altitude of 3700m. Walk around the Jokhang Temple Monastery and Norbulingka to view Tibetan beauty in its architecture. Also visit the Tibet Museum, to know the important and glorifying history of Tibet.

  • Day 03 : Lhasa

    This day, we will explore the most important monasteries of Lhasa. First is Drepung Gomang Monastic University, known in one of the best Tibet universities for learning the Buddhist thoughts. After exploring this monastery, we will stop for lunch and later visit the Sera Monastery founded in early fifteenth century, here you will see the fine statues, unmatched murals, golden scriptures. Evening drive back to our hotel in Lhasa.

  • Day 04 : Lhasa to Tsedang (3500m)

    After breakfast, we drive to Tsedang, which is a 4 hrs drive from Lhasa. Tsedang is the capital of the ancient Yarlung Kingdom. Enroute we will visit the Samye Monastery, which lies across the Yarlung Zangpo River. Here enjoy a short ferry ride upto the monastery. This monastery is famous for three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

    From here, continue our drive to Tsedang. The fertile land, scenery, peaceful river valleys will free your mind. Spend rest of the day while relaxing at your hotel. Stay overnight in Tsedang

  • Day 05 : Tsedang

    Following breakfast, enjoy the famous places around by visiting Samye Monastery, founded in the 8th century, known for its sacred mandala design. Yungbulakhang Palace built in the 2nd century, first building of Tibet. Next visit to Yamdrok-Tso known for the three freshwater lakes, the view of these lakes and surrounding mountains, will leave you stun. Also visit the Trundruk Monastery, located on the slope of Mt. Gangpo Ri. Overnight stay at Tsedang.

  • Day 06 : Tsedang to Gyantse

    Today drive to Gyantse exploring reen farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdrok lake, Karo-la glacier, and after covering a distance of 300 kms from Tsedang, we reach a town of Gyantse, known for the cultural and historical sites such as Dzong Fortress, Pala Manor and Kumbum Stupa. Stay overnight in Gyantse

  • Day 07 : Gyantse to Shigaste

    In the morning, we drive towards Shigatse famous for Tashilhunpo monastery, where the largest statue of Jampa (future Buddha) in the world. This monastery is dedicated to the second highest incarnation of Tibet, the Panchen Lama. Afternoon, we drive to Sakya monastery built in a Mongolian architectural style, consist of ruins in northern part and fortress, surrounded by a moat in southern part. Stay overnight in Shigaste

  • Day 08 : Sakya to Zhangmu

    Today drive to Zhangmu where we stroll through Mount Shishapangma (26,286 feet), two major passes - the Lalung La at 16,811 feet and the Nyalam Ton La at 17,060 feet. After Nayalam we will reach to the border town of Zhangmu. Spend a relaxing overnight stay at Zhangmu

  • Day 09 : Zhangmu-Kodari-Kathmandu

    This day we will enter in Nepal, through the Kodari border, connected by a 50m long bridge from Tibet to Nepal. Here we will complete the VISA formalities (USD 30 fees along with the passport size photograph).

    After completing the formalities, our Nepali guide and driver will meet you and assist you to your car, and drive to your hotel in Kathmandu. Stay overnight in Kathmandu

  • Day 10 : Kathmandu

    After breakfast, we will proceed for the full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath and Patan City

    Kathmandu’s Durbar Square located in front of royal palace housing the palaces and ancient temples. The palace was once the residence of Nepal Royal family. Now it has the Hindu and Buddhist temples with the attractive architecture.

    From here, visit to the Swayambhunath stupa, from the 5th century, most ancient holy shrine in Kathmandu. The stupa is in golden spire, with the image of eyes on each direction considered as the eyes of Buddha.

    Afternoon, enjoy the lunch at the local restaurant, and proceed for the Patan City, Lalitpur. The beauty of the city is spread along with the Bagmati River and rich culture, architecture of temples. Stay overnight in Kathmandu

  • Day 11 : Kathmandu to Nagarkot

    Today we will explore the Pashupatinath and Bodhnath City. Pashupatinath is one of the most important temples of Lord Shiva, and has major significance for Hindus. The temple is located on the bank of Bagmati River, and also has a special concern for the kingdom of Nepal.

    We head towards Bouddhanath stupa, largest stupas in South Asia, and best place to see the Tibetan lifestyle. The best time to visit the Bouddhanath stupa is at sunrise or sunset, during this time the monks, pilgrims and devotees performs Kora together,

    Afternoon, drive to Bhaktapur City in the afternoon, city know for the city of devotees', the 'city of Living Heritage, and of course Bhaktapur Durbar Square one of the cultural and charming site of the city. The durbar square is built in form of Shikara, with 55-Windows. Explore the National Art Gallery housing the artefacts, stone carvings, paintings

    Highlights : Continue our drive to Nagarkot and stay overnight in Nagarkot.

  • Day 12 : Nagarkot to Pokhara

    Today open your eyes in one of the stunning destinations, with the eye catching sunrise, mountains and natural beauty, spend some time at leisure in this beautiful city and later drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is a romantic destination, and most valuable gem of Nepal. Pokhara offers the view of Annapurana range, beautiful lakes and mountains. It is a best place for couples and honeymooners.

    On reaching at Pokhara, check into your resort and spend the time at leisure. Stay overnight in Pokhara

  • Day 13 : Pokhara

    Today enjoy sunrise at Sarangkot, and some place of interest Devi's Falls, Caves, Tibetan Refugee Camp, Old Pokhara Bazaar, view of Mt. Annapurna Himal, Barahi Temple and Seti River.

    Drive back to Pokhara, and enjoy the beautiful countryside, and excellent view of Dhaulagiri, The Annapurna I, II & III, Machha Puchhre or “Fish Tail”, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu & Himalchuli mountain ranges. Enjoy the boat ride at Phewa Lake. Overnight stay at Pokhara

  • Day 14 : Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Drive back to Kathmandu after breakfast. Transfer to hotel and stay overnight.

  • Day 15 : Departure from Kathmandu

    Intime, transfer to Kathmandu airport to board flight to home or onward destination.
